About this Event
Overview
This free short (2 hours) training session is aimed at those working with older adults, with a view to raising awareness about falls and looking at how physical activity has a role in falls prevention.
It is relevant to colleagues in a range of settings; e.g. community/voluntary groups, adult social care, homecare services, seniors’ housing and leisure facilities.
Learning outcomes:
• An understanding of the key messages regarding falls prevention
• An understanding of the recommended activity guidelines and how they can be put into practice
• An understanding of evidence-based strength and balance exercises designed to help prevent falls
• Knowledge of current opportunities for older people to be active and to do strength and balance activities
• An opportunity to network with other colleagues from a range of settings
