Learn the fundamentals of oil painting while drawing inspiration from vivid tablescapes featuring fruit, colorful vessels, and distinct textiles. This introductory course is designed for individuals with little or no prior experience in oil painting. Participants will work with specially sourced nontoxic oil paints and odorless mediums to explore color theory, mixing, value, composition, and more. Explore techniques unique to this medium under the guidance of professional painter Cheryl Capps Roach. The instructor will break down the basics to provide a deeper understanding of how to interpret a tablescape still life on a two-dimensional canvas. All supplies are provided.About the Instructor
Cheryl Capps Roach is an award-winning artist in both oils and dry media. She believes that education in classical drawing and painting skills is the foundation to good art. Cheryl has studied in the atelier program at the Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art in Edmond, Oklahoma and she attended intensive workshops at Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy and Barcelona Atelier of Realist Art in Barcelona, Spain. Cheryl believes that lifelong learning strengthens creativity and growth in her art practice. Her works have been juried into shows both regionally and out of state.
