About this Event
Welcome to the first Statistics & Psychology Televised Game Show, presented by the Southern California Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SCASA) in collaboration with Concierge Mental Health & Associates, aired on Pasadena Media's Arroyo Channel and multiple social media platforms! This event celebrates, spotlights, and challenges lovers of statistics and psychology. It is open to all members of the general public, and no education or special training is required for participation.
Prizes include trophies, a donation to a charity of the winner's choosing, lunch in the famous Rose Garden with the President of the American Statistical Association and the SCASA board, complimentary annual membership in SCASA, and a tour of the worldclass Huntington Library and Gardens!

LOCATION
Pasadena Media’s television studio, 150 S. Los Robles Ave. Ste. 101 Pasadena, CA 91101 (entrance on El Dorado)
COMPETITION FORMAT
The show will be filmed on a stage that includes two "expert" competitors (i.e. with PhDs, MDs, and working experience in their respective fields) and two statistics and psychology student competitors. Questions will be asked by the host, after which each contestant has one minute to formulate and write a response, and then share it with the audience. The host then announces the correct answer, judges tally scores, and the process repeats. After the 1-hour competition, judges break to tally scores, select one winner from both groups, and one top champion.
COMPETITION ROUNDS
- The show consists of two themed rounds, each focusing on a different aspect of mental health and statistics. They will be given preparation material two weeks before the competition to prepare.
- Round 1: "Mental Health Statistics" Participants answer multiple-choice or short-answer questions about statistical facts related to mental health disorders, prevalence rates, or outcomes.
Preparation Material: A "Mental Health Statistics" document will be provided two weeks before the competition, to study before the event. It will include key mental health statistics, trends, and related research will be provided. - Round 2: "History of Statistics & Medicine
Preparation Material: Participants will receive a document with facts about the history of Statistics & Medicine, to study before the competition

PREPARATION TIMELINE
Two weeks before the show: Receive study materials - a "Statistics 101 for Mental Health" and "History of Statistics & Medicine" document to study before the competition
One week before the show: Participate in an optional virtual Q&A session with the show’s producers to clarify preparation guidelines.
