Join members of the Tar River Astronomy Club, Imperial Centre education staff and astronomy enthusiasts from around North Carolina for the Statewide Star Party, an annual event taking place from 7:30-9:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences, 270 Gay St., Rocky Mount, NC.Amateur astronomers will gather at locations across the state for what we hope will be a record-setting event. Bring along your binoculars and small telescopes. Or, just look though ours!
We will conduct laser guided constellation tours and provide a variety of telescopes, along with all the assistance you'll need, for you and your family to observe craters and mountains on the Moon; the bright planets Jupiter and Mars, and the Pleiades star cluster.
Dress warmly, keep an eye on the kids, and enjoy a relaxing evening of spring stargazing.
Telescope viewing takes place weather permitting.
