About this Event

Everyone is invited to a celebration of local Staten Island drag artists at the College of Staten Island! Drag has a long history in the LGBTQ+ community and is rooted in the joy and ridiculousness of gender. Three drag queens Megami (Season 16 RuPaul’s Drag Race), Britney Virazzano, and Vanity Q (CSI Alum) will show off their amazing talent. The performances will be followed by a panel discussion with Prof. Siona Wilson and Q&A with the audience. Don’t miss out on this fun and thought-provoking event.

The show will take place in the Center for the Performing & Creative Arts (Building 1P) in the Williamson Theatre.

This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in parking lot 1—the College of Staten Island mass transit options: S93, S62, SIM33C.

Megami, also known as Megami D.Vil, an American drag queen and cosplayer best known for competing on season 16 of RuPaul's Drag Race. She was born and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and Staten Island, and is currently based in Brooklyn.

Megami began performing in drag in 2016 when she won the cosplay lip-sync show GeekSync in New York. Her drag name is inspired both by the Japanese word for goddess and by the video game Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga.

Megami was cast on the sixteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, having applied to compete on the show five times. Megami first appeared in the season's second episode which premiered on January 12, 2024. Her talent show performance in this episode, in which she held up a banner stating "Protect Queer Art", subsequently became a meme in the Drag Race community.
