A message from City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer James R. Freed: "The state of our city has never been defined solely by local government, though we do play an important role in shaping it. Ultimately, it is determined by the strength, creativity, and resilience of the people who call our community home. Across our city, organizations and individuals are playing an outsized role in building a more hopeful and prosperous future.
Over the past decade, our community has achieved truly historic progress, from the City’s financial turnaround and operational stability to extraordinary economic growth. Nearly 4,000 new jobs have been created, alongside more than $850 million in new investment. We used to chase jobs, now we chase workers. These are not just statistics; they represent real, transformational change in people’s lives.
I want to shine a spotlight on the remarkable organizations and people who are doing meaningful work every day, collaborating to address the challenges our community faces. This spirit of partnership is what sets us apart from many other cities across our state that have struggled to confront similar issues."
This Ted Talk–style program, expected to last 35-40 minutes, will give those making a difference in our community the opportunity to tell their own stories and share their impact firsthand. Registration is required but there is no charge to attend. The presentation will also broadcast live on Thumbcoast.tv and Xfinity Channel 12.
