Join us in 2024 for The Starwood Festival XLIV - a week like no other of camping, music, art, workshops, and community connection in nature.
About this Event

Held in the beautiful surroundings of nature, this immersive event invites attendees to connect with like-minded individuals in a unique and transformative atmosphere.

Joyous, rowdy, and life changing, Starwood celebrates diversity, alternatives in lifestyle, spirituality, belief systems, and is distinguished by its warm and welcoming community spirit.

Here you will find a community of explorers fresh from many journeys through realms both alien and familiar. Flush with discovery, they're eager to share the wisdom they have found. Here are the children of the quest, their vision unobscured by the veil of constructed reality, peering upward and outward in wonder, beyond the night sky to the distant stars.

The Midwest's oldest event of its kind.

Starwood offers:

  • Workshops & Classes: Delve into a wide range of educational and enlightening workshops conducted by experts in their fields. From spirituality and alternative healing to sustainable living and ancient wisdom, there is something for everyone.
  • Live Music Performances: Experience an incredible lineup of world-renowned and local musicians from various genres, including folk, rock, electronic, and world music. Let the melodies transport you and uplift your spirit.
  • Art Exhibitions and Performances: Immerse yourself in the creative expressions of talented artists showcasing their works through visual art, dance, theater, and poetry. Engage with the artists and let their creations spark your imagination. Saturday night is reserved for our infamous Bonfire Night - dance, drum, and play around the fire all night long as a community.
  • Rituals and Ceremonies: Participate in sacred rituals and ceremonies that honor diverse traditions, allowing for personal exploration and spiritual growth. Connect with others in the community and create meaningful connections.
  • Nature Activities: Take advantage of the picturesque surroundings by engaging in nature hikes, meditation sessions, nightly fires, and other outdoor activities. Discover the beauty of the land while rejuvenating your mind and body.
  • Community Connection: The Starwood Festival fosters a sense of community where attendees can connect with like-minded individuals, fostering meaningful friendships and a supportive network. Connect with others in drum and dance circles, music jams, and by any other means of spontaneous free range creative exploration.
  • Variety of Vendors: Explore a vibrant marketplace filled with unique and sustainable products, handmade crafts, holistic healing services, and delicious food options to nourish your body and soul.
Starwood is a clothing-optional event; from skyclad to male sarongs and pageantry, dress as you will, but observe the rules of informed, enthusiastic consent!

Some Notes about the Campground/Event
  • Rosencomet Project & The Starwood Festival operate under a Zero Tolerance policy for violence, sexual assault, and abuse.
  • Rosencomet Project & The Starwood Festival maintains a culture of consent at all times. Anything that violates the act of consent will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate and permanent removal from the event.
  • Camp/attend at your own risk... (while care is given to promote safety on the semi-primitive campground, we cannot guarantee against unfavorable circumstances)
  • While there is (limited) DISABILITY CAMPING with access to minor-draw power (such as breathing equipment, wheelchair charging but not AC), there is no guaranteed access should power failure occur and the campground is semi-primitive (ungraded gravel roads, accessible hot showers, and two accessible portasans located near disability camping and the showers). Dedicated caregivers may be brought in at a discounted rate; please contact us for details more than a month ahead of time so that we can make possible arrangements
  • NO PETS (only qualified service animals; NO emotional-support animals) -- extreme heat can be cruel to animals
  • RV/Bus Camping and Car/Minivan/PopUp permits will be limited this year to control overcrowding and there is a newly added price difference between Small RV's and Large RV's - purchase these permits ASAP in order to reserve your space as they will sell out quickly; there is NO direct water-hookup nor waste-water dumping facilities (please be prepared to haul graywater out); there is NO electrical hookup (the event is too large to provide electricity beyond limited disability-camping and event needs); also, brake-assist and extra cylinder power is necessary for larger RVs, which may not fit down the steep, dirt-road incline into the property. Pop-ups/minivans have more options for camp space but should be parked out of the way to make room for tents. No woods camping available for camper vehicles; fire roads are NOT to be blocked.
  • Parking Lot is FREE for commuter vehicles; if you must camp in your vehicle, it MUST REMAIN PARKED/CAMPED IN PLACE for the remainder of the event for the safety of other attendees (and you need to PURCHASE & display a Parking Pass to keep it there; those needing disability parking permits may obtain them free-of-charge with a state-issued disability tag). Shuttles are available for travel within the campground.
