Our November meeting provides a primer on growing the most popular herbs for use in the kitchen: parsley, sage, rosemary and the like. Mary Crawford from the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton will help us make the most of growing fresh herbs including descriptions of the plants, the planting process, growing notes, harvesting tips and preserving options. Overwintering, cozying up to our plants indoors and hoping they will survive until spring adds another dimension to growing herbs! Which plants might benefit from this? Which plants might be better left in the ground? Which plants are finished by freeze-up? What conditions will enable my herbs to thrive? Come ready to share your experiences!
This in-person meeting will be held at the Old Town Hall, 821 March Rd (laneway entrance for the Old Town Hall is on Klondike Rd, across from Shopper’s Drug Mart), 7:30 pm – 9 pm, doors open at 7:15 pm. Non-members are welcome for a visitor’s fee of $5.
