Join the Giosa-Varela Band (led by neurodivergent bluesman Morgan Giosa) and the Spectrum of Sound choir for a very exciting performance as part of First Town Downtown's Summer Concerts on the Green series in Windsor, Connecticut. Generously sponsored by the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation, this event is a celebration of neurodiversity and features performances from talented artists on the autism spectrum. Morgan Giosa bio:
"Morgan Giosa is a blues guitarist, visual artist, nature photographer, and web developer from Windsor, Connecticut.
From an early age, Morgan was raised around music and the arts. Morgan has naturally and intuitively discovered his passion in blues guitar and the visual arts through this frequent exposure to creativity.
A self described "old soul", Morgan feels his music is most rooted in inspiration from the electric psychedelic blues of the 1960s (artists such as Michael Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson, Jerry Garcia, and Jimi Hendrix are among his heroes), as well as influenced by the greatest electric bluesmen of all time (particularly B.B. King and Albert King).
Morgan has been composing original music with the guidance and collaborative input of his mentor, guitar virtuoso Frank Varela. The two, alongside drummer Alex Giosa and bassist Rudi Weeks, recorded the album "Feelin' Fine Today", released in November 2023. Songs from the album were featured on numerous radio programs including The Local Bands Show on 99.1 WPLR FM out of New Haven, CT and the New Music Alliance Radio Hour out of Springfield, MA. The opening track from "Feelin' Fine Today", "Hapless Blues", was named a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition in 2024.
Recently, Morgan released his third album of blues music, "Supernova", featuring an all-star lineup of musicians including guitar phenom Jake Kulak, renowned bassist Tony Delisio, and harmonica maestro Johnny Marino."
Spectrum of Sound bio:
"Spectrum of Sound was created during the peak pandemic in 2020. Many autism self-advocates were severely impacted by the negative and isolating effects of being at home with extreme shifts in their normal routines. The Flutie Foundation hosted a Facebook Live series to bring the community together in a safe and entertaining way. We found a large group of young adults were passionate about music and sharing their voices to make a difference.
Thanks to the musical expertise of Berklee College of Music graduate, Cooper Hyde, Spectrum of Sound launched formally at the Flutie Foundation’s first virtual gala in June 2020.
Since then, Spectrum of Sound has been UNSTOPPABLE. They have performed at events including for the Woo Sox, Boston College Football, Boston Marathon events, and Gillette Stadium. Spectrum of Sound released their first album in 2022 featuring their upbeat and inspirational mashup performances."
