We'll feature two hours of general dancing after a group lesson in Intermediate Swing in which popular teacher Jordan Jewell, of Move With Grace Ballroom in Durham, will review some cool figures beyond left and right turns.Swing developed in response to the pop music of the 50s and 60s. It's now a classic music tradition and you often hear it even today on the radio. It's music with an infectious backbeat that calls for a lilting, rocking motion of the body. Swing dance exaggerates this rocking action with a high energy triple step that ends with a rolling of the hips. Rock & Roll, once you get the hang of it you can't imagine the world without it.
And we'll feature this music interspersed with some great ballroom music. Swing is part of the ballroom dance portfolio of dances and the ability to really engage with this kind of music is a big part of why learning ballroom dance is so much fun.
