**The player cap for this event will be determined based on the number of remaining prerelease kits left over after Saturday’s event. We will announce that cap as soon as we have that information.**
The primary format of Prerelease events, sealed play is a limited format that combines the limited card pool aspect of draft play with the more open-ended deckbuilding approach of constructed. Like draft play, everyone starts the event off on equal footing, and like constructed play, this format gives you the opportunity to let your deckbuilding skills shine.
At the beginning of a sealed play event, you will open six booster packs. You must use the cards within those packs to build a deck while adhering to the following rules:
(1) Your deck must consist of exactly one leader, exactly one base, and a minimum 30-card draw deck. Your sideboard includes all of the other cards you opened from your packs.
(2) You can use any common base for your deck, even one that did not come from one of the booster packs you opened. You can only use a rare base if it was in one of the booster packs you opened.
(3) Your draw deck can include any number of copies of the same card.
Typically, the winner of a sealed play match is determined by best-of-three games. Each game should take an average of 20 minutes to complete. This event will be a Swiss style tournament that is capped at three rounds, at which point final standings will be determined.
PRIZING
Each participating player’s entry unlocks three additional booster packs for event prize support. Two of those booster packs go directly back to the player as participation prizes. The third pack is added to a collective prize pool to be distributed based on final event standings. Additional promo cards and prizes may be distributed based on event attendance and availability.
