Starry Night, an original dance-based performance by New Dance Horizons, invites a journey through a magical winter wonderland. Led by a unique quintet of prairie animals whose capacity to transform from human to creature is ignited through poetic texts, music, visual art and dancing! Featuring prairie artists performing four-legged and winged characters including bison, caribou, coyote, horse, owl and wolf, with stories that converge and collide, the works bring land and sky from both near and far into a crystal habitat. The work will include the unique poetic texts by Regina-based Indigenous writer and poet Jesse Archibald-Barber, who’s poetry accompanies the Starry Night performance.
Dr. Samantha Lawler, an Associate Professor of Astronomy at the University of Regina, will share her vast knowledge of the cosmos. With her engaging presentation, Dr. Lawler will dive into a variety of space topics, encouraging curiosity and sparking discussion through an interactive Q&A format.
The Royal Astronomical Society will be available for tours of the observatory located on the roof of the SSC.
