About this Event
Stanislavski’s Active Analysis
Every Monday at Studio A(Nov 4, 11, 18, and 25th) from 7-8:30pm in the Magnolia Room.
This adult-level acting class will explore Stanislavski’s method of Active Analysis through movement and scene work known as études. Later in life, Stanislavski went against his earlier teachings, realizing the freedom that actors can find in movement, using themselves as the source, and connecting with their scene partner.
In my experience teaching and doing Active Analysis I have seen:
-Freedom of creative expression
-Presence and deep listening
-Trusting impulses
-Playing like a child in a sandbox
-Exploring movement
-Embodied connection to scene partners
You can use this work for unleashing creative flow in auditions, scenework, and the invisible work of preparing or deepening a role.
This class is not just for actors. It has been useful for directors, writers, dancers, and artists of a variety of mediums in cultivating living storytelling. It can also create a greater connection to your body and deep listening in other parts of your life beyond art.
Studio A is located at 2306 Hyperion Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
