Aloha paddlers!

Welcome to a 1 and/or 2 day training led by World Paddle Association level 2 trainer, Melody Benton of Cypress Roots SUP School.

Stand Up Paddling is the fastest growing water sport in the world. Don’t miss this opportunity to take your teaching outdoors to up level your skills, business and enjoyment of teaching on the lake or in a pool!

Day 1 will cover class set-up, safety & rescue drills, board anatomy/handling and basic to advanced paddling skills for flat water racing and ocean. We will also cover important SUP business information and local opportunities to help launch your outdoor coaching career! Day 1 participants will receive a level 1 World Paddle Association Instructor Certificate upon passing the WPA exam and skills. Applicants should have 2 years of paddle boarding experience and/or teaching experience.

Day 2 is optional, but not permitted with out Day One. SUPYoga students will learn what tools, equipment and special considerations are needed to conduct a safe and successful SUP Yoga lesson or class in a lake or pool. Two SUPYoga flow sequences will be taught for beginner and mixed levels. Students will learn what postures work best on a SUP, how to modify or advance and how to cue on a board versus the land to help your students feel successful while being challenged. All students will get to practice teaching a 10-15 minute class/lesson to each other. *SUPYoga participants must have completed a 200 hour YTT or be in the process of obtaining.

*ALL participants should have an active CPR certification or be in the process of obtaining. (If you need guidance obtaining this please let me know)

Melody Benton has been teaching yoga, pilates and fitness for over 15 years and stand up paddling for 7 years. She holds an associates degree in Physical Therapy, ACSM PT, 200 RYT, Comprehensive Pilates Certification with Physical Mind Institute, along with hundreds of hours of training and teaching in aquatic and group exercise in her early fitness career. Melody's studies of movement have continued in the field of embryology and fascia learning how the human body moves 3 dimensionally as a fluid intelligent system.

Her 7 years experience teaching as a certified American Heart Association CPR/first aid instructor makes safety and knowledge a priority to uphold the integrity of the sport. Along with a wild-natured, fun-loving spirt together we will lead others back to the healing waters...to reconnect to themselves, nature and their vitality of life!
