Stand N Your Purpose: The Manifestation of the Pursuit of Tension is an interdisciplinary creative work exploring how artists discover, claim, and embody the value of their work—individually, communally, and ancestrally. Guided by the Adinkra symbol Sankofa, “return and retrieve what has been forgotten,” the project invites collaborators and audience alike to examine histories, creative intentions, and the tensions that live in the body. Sankofa is both a personal and cultural touchstone, reminding us that even when we lose sight of ourselves or our lineage, these truths can always be rediscovered.

The work emerges from my commitment to creating platforms where Black and Brown artists can connect, collaborate, and manifest the intrinsic, cultural, and ancestral value of their labor. Centering Black artistic contributions, this project amplifies creativity, advocates for recognition, and situates financial support as a necessary complement to intrinsic and communal value. Movement, sound, visual art, and technology converge to emphasize shared purpose, cultural resonance, and the transformative potential of tension.
