Welcome to the Stand Against Racism Conference - Reduce Conflict, Improve Culture: A Guide to Restorative Practices

Why should I, my staff, my organization, my co-workers, or my community attend?

When people hear the term “Restorative Justice,” they often think of youth and detention. It is so much more! Restorative justice is a response to wrongdoing that prioritizes repairing harm and recognizes that maintaining positive relationships with others is a core human need. Through mediation, a wrongdoer seeks to repair damage they have done to another.
This conference will provide partners and participants a working knowledge on:

·What is Restorative Justice? Where is it now? Where is it going?

·Microaggressions: How they harm and how to navigate their effect on personal and professional relationships.

·Healing and Conflict Resolution: Create safer neighborhoods, more peaceful work environments, and healthier communities through accountability and reparation.

·Mediating Uncomfortable Situations: Equip managers and human resources to apply restorative justice practices to promote healing and understanding, and less distress.

Stand Against Racism is a signature mission awareness event of YWCA Central Maine that seeks to build community among those who work for racial justice and to raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism in our communities and provide strategies on how to root out injustice, transform institutions, and create a world that sees women, girls, and people of color the way we do: Equal. Powerful. Unstoppable.

You can expect a day filled with insightful discussions, engaging workshops, and meaningful connections. The Stand Against Racism Conference is your chance to come together with like-minded individuals who are passionate about creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Let's stand united against racism and work towards a brighter future for all. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of the change!
