In 1941 under the cover of darkness, female Russian pilots flew obsolete Polikarpov PO-2 biplanes against the Nazi invaders.The Germans both feared and hated the 'Nacht Hexen' - the 'Night Witches' who appeared like ghosts in the night.
Popular speaker Debbie Land (she gave a superb SOE & Lysander Talk last season) has a long association with The Shuttleworth Collection who themselves operate a PO-2 (though not normally at night!) and is an expert on the subject. This illustrated talk will explore this 'hidden history' and is bound to be popular!
