Stained Glass 101

Welcome to stained glass 101! In this class, students will learn how to create a small finished stained glass piece.

This class will be held outside, and we will start with talking about the basic principals and the tools needed for stained glass, followed by a demo. Then, students will make a quick simple drawing of a design to work with. Using glass scraps, students can choose what colors they want to work with, cut the glass, sand it, add copper foil, and then solder their piece together.

By the end of the class, students will walk away with the knowledge of how stained glass works and have something beautiful to show for it!

This class is taught by Alchemy artist-in-resdience Maya Djiji. Maya is a visual artist from California who loves exploring different mediums, and makes work with ceramics, textiles, glass, printmaking, and more. Our class offerings taught by artists-in-residence are developed by the visiting artists and are informed by their artistic practice. This is the only time this class will be offered at Alchemy!

This class is held outside near the main studio on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are experimenting with offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.
