
About this Event
Discover the connections between the early history of Durham and one of the largest plantations in North Carolina. This outdoor guided tour will highlight the post-Emancipation history of Stagville. Hear stories of freed families who moved to Durham, how the Cameron family's wealth influenced North Carolina, and how sharecropping shaped the lives of African American families at Stagville.
This tour will last approximately 75 minutes, including both walking and driving in your own vehicle. Visitors will be standing and walking on gravel, grass, and uneven ground.
