House A’fire is about our shared struggle to escape the crushing gravity of family and cultural expectations in order to fulfill our potential and create our own unique future. In the little northern Indiana town of Waitland, 18 year old Redly Green is the patriarch and breadwinner for his mother and extended family in place of his deceased father. Recognized for his intellectual potential, which is not valued by his family and friends, he is offered a baseball scholarship to the university of Notre Dame. He must choose between his family’s survival or his brighter future, and the conflict sparks fires that reveal the true nature of the family and the difficult life altering decision he must make.
Involved in theatre since junior high school, the playwright, Marc Hardy, PhD, was born and raised in Northern Indiana, but has also lived in Missouri, California, and Michigan. He taught at Indiana University, Butler University and the University of Notre Dame. In addition, he has spoken and lectured across the US, Ukraine, Africa, Canada and Costa Rica
