We, the STAG Committee, are hosting a significant members' and supporters’ meeting on Saturday, 13th September from 2 - 5 pm at Sharrow Old School. We will begin with a brief history of STAG so far and indulge in a little nostalgia. Then, we will examine briefly what STAG aspired to do after becoming a constituted member group in 2021. Following this, we will take a break and then dive into a discussion regarding a dilemma that STAG faces. We will seek to explore the questions:
- If STAG is needed now, what should members be doing?
- After winning the dispute, does STAG still have a purpose?
- Should STAG be wound down, and if so how?
- Why is it important that STAG continues?
To start us off, a couple of Committee members will engage in a debate about the potential advantages of keeping STAG alive and what it might achieve, and what the costs and benefits of ending STAG as a constituted members' group might be.
Following this debate, we will break into small groups and discuss our responses to what has been said and our thoughts, feelings and ideas. Each group will have a scribe to feed back to everyone in the meeting, and if there is time, we may continue to discuss. We may take an indicative vote of the feelings of those present.
