Please note: we will be taking photographs and video footage for social media and web-site publicity throughout the Conference. If you do not wish to be photographed please contact one of the STACS Tutors.
We expect up to 200 attendees. As well as teachers, we are welcoming key organisations such as the Scottish local authorities, Scottish Government, Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland, and SSERC, along with industry partners. Using plenaries, round table discussions, teach meets and exhibition opportunities, we will showcase a range of transformational opportunities and facilitate the development of strong connections between teachers and between them and key stakeholders.
STACS (Scottish Teachers Advancing Computing Science) is a new kind of teacher association for Scottish CS teachers – run by teachers, for teachers – and supported by Scottish Government since 2022.
We are working to significantly improve outcomes in CS across all Scotland’s schools, primary and secondary, and raise the profile of the subject. We are developing a strong, self-supporting Community of Practice among teachers as well as building connections with and providing advice to key stakeholders such as local and national government, industry, education organisations and parents. We are shining a light on both the challenges and opportunities for CS education in our schools.
