About this Event
The 2nd annual Heartland Book Festival will take place on October 12 at the Central Library in downtown Kansas City with authors, books, activities, and more! Join us for a family-friendly storytime in the children's library with New York Times bestselling author Stacey Abrams.
Stacey Speaks Up marks the third in Stacey Abrams’ series called “Stacey’s Stories.” Written by Abrams and illustrated by Kitt Thomas, this latest picture book taps into the former Georgia state representative’s legacy of advocacy with a story about access to school lunch. Abrams leads a special storytime about making a difference.
Due to limited space, Book Festival attendees without children are encouraged to register for Ms. Abrams’ afternoon talk on the importance of libraries at 2:15 p.m.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. When selecting your tickets, please include the total number of attendees in your party, both children and adults.
The Heartland Book Festival is co-presented by the Kansas City Public Library, Missouri Humanities, and the Missouri Center for the Book.
