Music at St. Paul’s Artist Series continues with a performance by THE GESUALDO SIX, an award winning British vocal ensemble appearing in Chattanooga for the first time. The concert takes place on Monday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 305 West Seventh at Pine Street, in downtown Chattanooga. Single tickets may be purchased in advance through the St. Paul’s website, as well as at the door on the night of the concert. For tickets and more information, visit: https://www.stpaulschatt.org/artist-series.

The Gesualdo Six is an award-winning British vocal ensemble comprising some of the UK’s finest consort singers. Praised for their imaginative programming and impeccable blend, the group formed in 2014 and has gone on to perform at numerous major concert halls and festivals around the world. For the St. Paul’s Artist Series concert, the ensemble will perform music intended to evoke the contemplative atmosphere at the end of the day when light turns to darkness. For this program entitled Fading, many of the works are inspired by the ancient service of Compline, including renaissance polyphony by Lobo, Sheppard and Gesualdo that contains startling harmonic shifts and expressive word painting, as well as contemporary reflections by Veljo Tormis, Joanna Marsh, and Gerda Blok-Wilson.

“Their sound seemed to float in mid-air before reaching the ears of the rapt audience… every line, every gorgeous texture was radiantly clear.” The Times

“Ingeniously programmed and impeccably delivered, with that undefinable excitement that comes from a group of musicians working absolutely as one.” – Gramophone

Christian Crocker, Director of Music, comments, “On behalf of all of us at St. Paul's, I am delighted to present this outstanding ensemble as part of our Artist Series. Our mission for these concerts is to present performances of the highest quality, reflecting the beauty of our great Creator in musical artistry. We hope you will join us to experience this glorious music in our beautiful, resonant space.“
