Wellington’s inaugural St. Paddy’s Parade & Festival gets underway with the 0.5K Shamrock Fun Run at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15 in Downtown Wellington.The event kicks into high gear later that morning at 11 a.m. when the St. Paddy’s Day parade commences down Cleveland Avenue and the Vendor Festival opens in Centennial Park.
In addition to the floats, vehicles and local groups participating in the parade and the local businesses and vendors at the Vendor Festival, the event will feature live music, family-friendly activities, a downtown scavenger hunt, face painting, balloon animals, access to downtown businesses — and even an appearance by a leprechaun!
SHAMROCK FUN RUN
The Shamrock fun Run is designed for participants of all ages and abilities, encouraging everyone to walk, jog, or stroll along Cleveland Avenue. This is a joint venture between Wellingtons Parks, Recreation, Open Spaces and Trails Advisory Board (PROST) and sponsor Old Colorado Brewing Company (OCB).
Pre-registration for the Fun Run is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and younger. Day-of registration is $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger. Registration closes at 9:45 a.m. March 15. It includes a St. Paddy’s Day bandana (handed out at check-in and required for entrance to the race), a participation medal, and discount for a post-event gathering at OCB.
Check-in happens from 9-9:45 a.m. that morning at First Street and Cleveland Avenue. The race starts at 10 a.m. and runs east on Cleveland Avenue from First Street until about Fourth Street, where there will be a turn-around sending runners back west to finish at OCB.
Proceeds from the Shamrock Fun Run will benefit PROST’s Veterans Garden Community Project at Wellington Community Park.
ST. PADDY'S PARADE
Registration to participate in the inaugural St. Paddy’s Parade costs $25 and must be submitted by 11:45 p.m. Feb. 28. All entrants must check in at the appropriate registration table between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on March 15.
Floats and vehicles will line up on Wellington Boulevard. The check-in table will be near Wellington Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue. Walking/animal entries line up on the south side of First Street. The check-in table will be at the south side of First Street and Cleveland Avenue.
All participants must be in place and ready by 10:30 a.m. for inspection by the Wellington Fire Protection District and Larimer County Sheriff's Office. The parade gets underway down Cleveland Avenue at 11 a.m.
VENDOR FESTIVAL
Event organizers are seeking vendors from a wide variety of sectors to participate in the Vendor Festival, including landscaping companies and trades, educational organizations, and nonprofits.
Vendor registration for the event costs $25 and must be submitted by 11:45 p.m. February. 28. The standard booth space in 10 feet by 10 feet, but a 10x20 option is also available during registration.
Setup begins at 9 a.m. Vendors are asked to be ready for Wellington Fire District and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office inspections by 10:30 AM.
Vendors must provide their own loading/unloading equipment, staff, payment system, power source, booth apparatus and tent weights. They are also responsible for securing shade awnings with weights and providing a fire extinguisher.
The Vendor Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
