🌿 Sitting peacefully on the edge of town, Tidworth Mortuary Chapel has a fascinating story to tell. While it may sound a little morbid at first, the chapel is a calm and reflective place with deep historical roots.
🏛️ The old St Mary’s Church within Tidworth was demolished in 1784 with permission from the Bishop of Winchester, and its materials were used to build this chapel. After falling into disrepair, the building was rescued by Tidworth Town Council in 2006 and lovingly refurbished in 2008.
🕯️ Inside, you’ll find memorials preserved from the original church and a crypt holding two unidentified bodies – with intriguing suspicions about who they may have been.
