There’s something for everyone in the Annual Concert at St Mary’s starting at 7pm (with wine available beforehand, and in the interval). Several performers have taken part in the Concert before – but also there are some new guests.
Local opera singer, Kirsty Taylor-Stokes will be singing the ‘Song to the Moon from Dvorak’s Rusalka and Rosie Dart will sing ‘Not while I’m around’ from Sweeney Todd. Katie and Charlie Dart will also be performing.
We are delighted to welcome a young Violinist from Turkey, Elif Cansever, a scholar of the Royal College of Music and she will play Valse Scherzo (Tchaikovsky) and the virtuoso piece Dance of the Goblins by Bazzini. She will be accompanied by Thomas Kelly, also from the RCM, on piano.
As always, we look forward to our Wargrave Community Choir singing popular music - ‘May it be’, ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ and ‘City of Stars’. And our young people from the Piggott Junior School will delight us with their songs ‘The Call’ and ‘Somewhere only we know’.
Paul Speed, on trumpet, is another regular contributor to our music in St Mary’s and he will be playing the first movement from Haydn’s trumpet concerto with piano, and also some Charpentier with organ.
Last, but not least, we have the wonderful a cappella music of Apollo5, as part of a big European tour, and they will delight us with songs such as ‘The last rose of summer’ and ‘The way you look tonight’.
