A ‘decorating station’ will be available on the day for those wanting to walk in memory of a loved one. Walkers can write the name of their loved one on an ‘I’m walking for’ sign and decorate before affixing to their clothing and setting off for the walk.
All walkers will receive an exclusive wooden medal made from Poplar Plywood or Birch Plywood which are PEFC and FSC certified respectively, meaning the wood is from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources, ensuring an eco-friendly approach from start to finish.
Water will be available to refill water bottles at Basildon Hospice and at a halfway mark on the route. We encourage St. Luke’s Loop participants to bring their own bottle or purchase our exclusive St. Luke’s Hospice BPA free reusable water bottle, which will be available to pre-order online. If you would like to purchase your St. Luke’s hospice bottle you can do so while registering online. A limited number of Hospice reusable bottles will also be available to purchase on the day.
We advise all walkers to wear appropriate footwear and bring waterproof clothing and/or an umbrella. Walkers will have access to toilet facilities at the Hospice. The route includes Langdon Hills Country Park with both Westley Heights and One Tree Hill areas are covered. Footpaths at One Tree Hill are less accessible than those at Westley Heights, and are not recommended for users of wheelchairs, mobility scooters or other or mobility aids.
