About this Event

Families and those who love making crafts and cooking will relish an afternoon of socializing and creating beauty with dough. Join us for ritual-bread-loaf-making in preparation for St. Joseph's Day or La Festa di San Giuseppe, one of Sicily's most important feasts that takes place annually on March 19.

Cost $45/person.

During the afternoon hosted by Allison Scola of Experience Sicily, you'll learn about Sicily's traditional St. Joseph's Day bread altars and the folklore related to the spring-equinox feast. You'll make your own bread loaves, like those pictured. At the end of the session, you'll bring home the loaves you made, which you are invited to bring back and display on the altar we'll build for the feast celebration luncheon at Cacio e Vino on Sunday, March 19. (Note: the bread loaves are not meant to be eaten, but displayed as a symbol of thanksgiving to St. Joseph for supporting us through the scarce winter months.)

Ticket costs include explanation of St. Joseph's Day bread making traditions, the supplies for making the bread loaves as well as finger foods such as olives, cheese, arancine (rice balls), finger sandwiches, and more. (Includes tax and gratuity.)

Please note: The limit to this event is 20 people.
