St. John’s Episcopal Church will host their 1st “Music for a Mission” concert in collaboration with CONCORA, Connecticut’s oldest professional choir, joined by a chamber instrumental ensemble. Edward Tyler’s An American Requiem is an emotionally charged work that reflects on the epidemic of gun violence in American schools. It will be performed by CONCORA under the direction of Dr. Chris Shepard who is also the Music Director for the church.

St. John's Community Foundation hopes to attract people throughout Fairfield County, and further, to help support their spiritual needs, as well as address the urgent need to improve the daily quality of life for students and teachers, churches, temples, and other venues that continue to be a target and live in constant fear.
Funds raised will benefit Sandy Hook Promise - whose mission is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. Funding from this generous donation helps Sandy Hook Promise deliver its programming often at no cost to schools. This includes the Know the Signs programs, which teach the warning signs of violence and self-harm, the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System, and other programs in school districts nationwide.
