DECEMBER 2016: FULL COLD MOON/ THE LONG NIGHT'S FULL MOONBy the light of the full cold moon
We see our shadow stretch into the darkness—
The fear-shadow seems infinite.
Look closer and deeper at the shadow to see the Teacher.
The Teacher is not the enemy.
Invite the Wise Ones
out of the forest
into the clearing
where the humble wildflowers
show their soft colors and sweeten the air.
Rumi says—
and I’m making a mess of it—
do here what you were sent to do.
There is no daylight to waste.
Use these short days to make the most of the sun—
to take in beauty and
wantonly scatter beauty back into the world
Learn from the bioluminescent creatures—
Let us make our own light
like deep-sea fish, plankton
and firefly.
We are Luminous.
We are One.
We are Beauty.
We are Love.
~Therese Guise (from Moon Poems II collection)
