The popular community Free for All event will return on Saturday 8 November at St John in the Fields Church, St Ives.The initiative invites people to bring along items they no longer need between 9am and 11am, and then the doors will open to the public from 11am to 5pm for anyone to come and take items home, completely free of charge.
Organised by St Ives Community Foodshare, St Ives Town Council and St John’s in-the-Fields Church, the event encourages sharing, community spirit and sustainability by giving unwanted goods a new lease of life and reducing waste.
Organisers are keen to reach as many people and organisations as possible to collect these free items, as the event often generates more donations than collections. Items such as books, clothes and bedding are frequently available in large quantities at the end.
Certain items cannot be accepted, such as broken goods, paint, aerosols, chemicals, electrical items, knives, large items, and building materials such as broken masonry or tiles.
