550 years ago, in 1475, King Edward IV issued Letters Patent for the building of a new and greater chapel within the grounds of Windsor Castle. This was to replace the 13th century chapel started by King Henry III which is now the site of the Albert Chapel to the east of St George's Chapel. A display of documents and items from St George's Chapel Archives to mark the anniversary can be seen in the South Quire Aisle during Chapel visitor hours.
