About this Event
* Note that this workshop starts on July 5th and will happen every Friday of July. So meeting days at Munday Library will be July 5th,12th, 19th, and 26th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
Writing a memoir is a deeply personal journey that requires introspection, honesty, and courage. It's about delving into your memories, exploring the events and experiences that have shaped you, and weaving them into a compelling narrative. It's a chance to excavate the layers of your identity, to understand yourself more fully, and to share your story with others.
This memoir writing workshop offers a writing group experience that can be transformative, as you engage in collaborative discussions, receiving insightful feedback in a fostering, supportive community. You'll have the opportunity to refine your storytelling abilities, overcome obstacles, and gain the encouragement and inspiration needed to embark on your memoir-writing journey with confidence.
Meet with your colleagues every Friday afternoon in July at the Munday Library to workshop ideas and experience the dynamic energy of a writing group. You'll also receive individual feedback on drafts and a private conference with Jeffery.
Meet your teacher: Jeffery Downs comes from a long line of storytellers and writers. He is the Writing Center Director and an instructor at St. Edward's, has written for magazines, was lead writer for a Houston A&E newspaper, and recently edited several books.
