About this Event
This will be a gentle paced women-only ride suitable for anyone who can ride a bike. You will need to be able to pedal, steer and use the brakes. The ride is 9.5 miles long, using a mixture of cycle paths and quiet roads, with a short section in the city centre.
We will be meeting at 09:15 for a prompt start at 09:30. Our meeting point will be St Ebbe's Primary School, Whitehouse Road, Oxford, OX1 4NA. We'll be cycling through Grandpont Nature Reserve, Broad Street and the Science Area, along the Marston Cyclepath, through the leafy suburb around Haberton Mead and old Headington, before reaching our destination - the friendly Courtside Cafe in Bury Knowle Park. We'll head back via the same route, and aim to arrive by 12.30pm.
There is one steady hill in the middle of the route. We will take this slowly with lots of stops. It's fine to walk if this is easier for you.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order. We don't have bikes available to borrow for this ride.
Please bring with you:
- A helmet if you wish to wear one
- Water
- Practical weather appropriate clothing (e.g. rain coat, gloves)
- Money/card for the café if you'd like to buy refreshments
- Bike Lock
