Hello,Thank you to all who joined us to discuss The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.
It was thought provoking satire about the spiritual side of reality. We had a great discussion about C.S. Lewis' style and the presence of evil in each of our lives. Lewis has a unique gift to present difficult concepts in a way that makes it easier to visualize. In this book, it shows in slow, quiet ways evil and sin present in our lives. Ultimately, we have hope in our Lord and the reminder that everything from the devil is disordered and chaos, while everything from God is perfectly ordered.
Our next book selection is Joan of Arc by Mark Twain. Please read the book and join us to discuss Monday, Nov. 10th at 5:30pm in the Parish Center. A second, 7pm date in November will be announced shortly.
Joan of Arc is a fictionalized biography of Joan of Arc. It is incredibly well written and captivating and considered by Mark Twain to be his best work.
"I like Joan of Arc best of all my books; and it is the best; I know it perfectly well. And besides, it furnished me seven times the pleasure afforded me by any of the others; twelve years of preparation, and two years of writing. The others needed no preparation and got none."
Mark Twain
I pray we all be inspired by this young saint to do as St. Joan of Arc said, “Go forward bravely. Fear nothing. Trust in God; all will be well.”
Happy Reading,
Kathleen
