BHAKTIJIVAN-VANI [ENGLISH SECOND EDITION]SRI NITYANANDA TATTVA
___________________________
“Sei Krishna —-- Nabadwipe Sri Chaitanyachandra| sei Balaram—- sange Nityananda….” 'That Krishna is Sri Chaitanya Chandra, and that Balaram is Sri Nityananda.' Sri Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami has mentioned in Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita that Sri Krishna Himself has descended as Sri Chaitanya Chandra, and Lord Balaram has descended as Sri Nityananda.
Lord Balaram, who is the original 'Guru Tattva', has a plow in His hand, which symbolizes the removal of ignorance and the cultivation of knowledge. Our hearts, like fields, have become hard due to the influence of maya. Therefore, Sri Nityananda Ram, the original Guru, uses His plow-like words to till the hardened fields of our hearts, making them soft and fertile for the seeds of devotion to grow.
Those who are disobedient and opposed to the scriptures are struck by His mace-like words. Sri Nityananda Prabhu, who is the embodiment of compassion, has set an example in the scriptures by punishing the wicked and showing mercy to the fallen. The scriptures say: 'He punished the sinful and showered love on the poor.'
We see examples of this in Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita. When Jagai and Madhai, two great sinners, tried to harm Nityananda Prabhu, Lord Mahaprabhu [the incarnation of Mahavadanya] wanted to attack them with His Sudarshan Chakra. But Nityananda Prabhu stopped Him, saying: 'In this incarnation, You cannot take up arms.' Thus, He showed mercy to everyone.
The poet has sung: 'There is no one as merciful as He, who gives love even after being beaten.' Sri Nityananda Prabhu, the merciful incarnation, has been described by Sri Locana Dasa Thakura in his kirtan: 'Akrodha Paramananda Nityananda Ray, abhiman-shunya Nitaai nagare bedaya...'
Sri Nityananda Prabhu, holding a straw between His teeth, went from door to door, giving the Mahamantra to the fallen souls and saying:
“Je goura bhaje se amar pranam re…”
”Amare kinia laha bhaja Gourahari..”
‘Take me and worship Gaur Hari…' He says: 'Whoever worships Gaur, is My life...' 'Take me and worship Gaur Hari...'
By saying this, Sri Nityananda Prabhu is telling us that if someone sincerely worships Gaur-Govinda, He will become their servant. He also says: “amare kinia laha…'Take me...' meaning that He will be pleased if we serve Gaurachandra, and Sri Guru Dev will also be pleased. Whoever worships the lotus feet of Nityai-Gaurahari-Govinda will surely receive the mercy of Sri Guru Dev."
[[Sri Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami has mentioned in Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita that Sri Krishna has descended as Sri Chaitanya Chandra, and Lord Balaram has descended as Sri Nityananda. Lord Balaram, who is the original 'Guru-tattva', has 'hal' (plow) in His hands. We see 'hal' and 'musala' in His hands because 'hal' cultivates the land. Our heart, like land, has become hard due to the influence of maya (illusion). Therefore, the original 'Guru' Sri Nityananda, with His 'chetan-vani' (conscious words) like 'hal', cultivates the hard heart of the bound soul, making it soft and joyful, so that the seed of devotion can grow abundantly there. And those who are disobedient, i.e., opposed to the scriptures, He strikes with the 'musala' (pestle) of discipline.
.In scripture it's stated— pap pashandi jata karila dalan| Deen heen Jane kaila Prema bitarana….”
Such is Lord Nityananda, who, by His own example and teachings, has shown us how to uproot the opposing forces and mercifully deliver the opposers. The scriptures say, "He has destroyed many sinful opponents and distributed love to the poor and humble." We see examples of this in Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita. When Jagai and Madhai, who were notorious sinners, came to attack Nityananda Prabhu, Lord Mahaprabhu [the incarnation of Mahavadanya] was about to attack them with His Sudarshan Chakra, but Nityananda Prabhu stopped Him, saying, "In this incarnation, You cannot take up any weapons." Thus, He showed mercy to everyone, including Jagai and Madhai.
The composer of the padas (devotional songs) has sung,
“Emon dayal to nai re, mar kheye Prema dai…”
"There is no one as merciful as He, who gives love even after being beaten." Sri Nityananda Prabhu, the 'Dayal Avatara' (incarnation of mercy), has been described by Sri Locana Dasa Thakura in his padas as follows: “akrodha paramananda nityananda raya
abhimana sunya nitai nagare bedaya
adhama patita jivera dware dware giya
harinama maha mantra dena bilaiya
jare dekhe tare kahe dante trina dhorií
amare kiniya laha bhaja gaurahari….”
"He is Akrodha Paramananda Nityananda Ray, who roams the streets of Nityananda Nagar without any pride. He goes from door to door of the fallen souls and gives them the Mahamantra (Hare Krishna). He says to everyone He meets, 'Hold onto the grass between your teeth' (i.e., hold onto the holy name). 'Buy Me and worship Gaur Hari'."
Sri Nityananda Prabhu, holding onto the grass between His teeth, teaches everyone to worship Gaur Hari (Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu). "Whoever worships Gaur, he is My life..." "Buy Me and worship Gaur Hari..." By these statements, Sri Nityananda Prabhu is telling us that if someone sincerely worships Gaurahari-Govinda, then Nityananda Prabhu will be His servant. He also says, "Buy Me" - meaning that if someone serves Gaurachandra, Nityananda Prabhu will be pleased with him and sell Himself to him. Therefore, 'Sri Gurudeva' is pleased. Whoever worships the lotus feet of Nitaigaurahari-Govinda will certainly be pleasing to 'Sri Gurudeva'."
