About this Event
This is the very first Square Zarzo Workshop we are running here at The Workshop and we’d love you to join us for a full, fun day of weaving!
You’ll learn specific technical weaving techniques with roots tracing back to Catalonia, where Zarzo forms were originally used in traditional cheese production.
Have you already made a Round Zarzo Basket with us? This is your chance to hone your skills, take on a new challenge, and tune your fingers into the natural rhythm of weaving, just as your Spanish ancestors once did.
We’ll be working with beautiful locally grown willow, harvested annually from a cooperative plot in Northumberland. The Dicky Meadows variety, with its distinctive green and grey hues, makes for stunning and unique baskets.
Come along, make new friends, immerse yourself in the craft, and take home a basket that’s as practical as it is beautiful.
There is plenty of tuition to enable us to offer this workshop to beginners and advanced alike.
Please bring a packed lunch as we will stop half way. There is The Sustenance Society artisan bakery next door, Kork Deli & Wine do good takeaway to order in advance and there is a Coop 5 mins away.
Refreshments included.
Tools & all materials included. If you have a favourite pair of secateurs then do bring.
Closed toe shoes and an apron if you have one.
Suitable for 16+ due to sharp tools.
