Tell your kinfolk and your friendfolk to come enjoy the lively combination of fiddle music, community dance, and inclusive cultural traditions from Southern Appalachia. Our band is SOUNDWAGON led by Mississippi fiddler Jack Magee!! With emphasis on joy and togetherness, genderless roles and calls (leads/follows), and the opportunity for solo attendees to find partners, we are committed to making everyone feel welcome and included.
Dan Wally Lang is the caller who will introduce the dances and guide partnered participants in rhythmic patterns, adding a sense of southern tradition and gentle guidance to the evening of dance. Please wear non-sticking, non-marking shoes.
Square Dance NOLA hosted beginner friendly community dances for seven years (2013-2020) and is delighted to get back in action. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a newcomer, there's something special about coming together to move to the rhythm of live fiddle music and share in the spirit of inclusivity and camaraderie.
