Spwci (pronounced spooky) is a female-fronted psychedelic rock band rooted in the stunning landscapes of Wales. Formed in late 2022, the group has developed a distinctive sound that blends the classic elements of psychedelic rock with their own personal styles to create something new and exciting. The band is made up of Jam on guitar, Joe on drums, Froggie on bass, and Matilda on vocals.

Since their formation, Spwci has performed at a variety of venues, ranging from small, intimate settings to larger festival stages. While they bring a sense of fun and energy to the stage, they’re equally at home creating quieter, more contemplative atmospheres.
Drawing influence from artists such as Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zepplin, and more modern acts like Wolf Alice and Garbage, Spwci crafts songs that explore themes of self-discovery, spirituality, love, heartbreak, feminism, and their connection to Wales and the natural world around them. Their music moves fluidly between energetic, upbeat tracks and slower, reflective pieces, aiming to connect with listeners on multiple levels. With two singles already released, Spwci has begun to gain attention in their local music scene and beyond.
Their song No Escape received airplay on BBC Radio Wales Introducing, marking an exciting milestone for the band as they continue to develop their sound. With a new single and an EP planned for release later this year, they’re looking forward to sharing more of their music with growing audiences. Spwci’s music reflects a wide range of experiences and emotions, and they draw inspiration from both personal stories and their surroundings. Their songs aim to create an experience that invites listeners to explore the themes and emotions woven into their sound as well as making their performances a space for fun and enjoyment.
Brian Karrot
Brian Karrot has been prominent in the music business since the 1980s, cutting his teeth as the long-standing drummer with iconic Port Talbot band ‘The Karrots’ from which his name is derived. With US and European tours already under his belt with the Karrots, Brian also toured with the Storeys (Steve Balsamo’s band) supporting Elton John on two European arena tours, as well as gracing the main stage at Glastonbury.
Not many people can say they have jammed with Robert Plant and Bernie Marsden, in a converted barn in Oxfordshire for Whispering Bob Harris’s 60th Birthday either!
Roger Henderson
Roger was born and brought up in North Wales, the son of a Travel Agent and an office clerk. He moved to Swansea in 1972 to study and liked it so much that he stayed.
He began writing consistently from the age of 15. Eventually, this gave rise to an E.P. and four albums of his own material. Later on, Roger was a finalist in the ‘Song for Wales’ competition (Cân i Gymru) three times, most recently in 2021. As if this was not enough, he’s written poems, a book of short stories and album reviews for magazines.
The gig list is just enormous and has probably exceeded a couple of thousand performances, both of band work and solo events. Roger has taken part in very many TV and radio shows and has gigged in a wide-range of countries overseas, including Turkey, Germany, USA, Morocco, Australia and New Zealand. He continues to perform regularly in local venues.
Guy Challenger
Guy Challenger crafts acoustic music that aims to start conversations that they find hard to have without musical accompaniment. Often addressing the elephant in the room and talking about mental health. Guy hopes that their music and lyricism can be a comfort to the loudest minds.
