Springtime for Pirates!
These meetups are more about gathering new people together than they are about Steampunk. So even if you know nothing about steampunk, you and your friends are welcome to join us.
We are basically a reoccurring casual dinner party. Friendly folks getting together.
These events free to attend and take place every third Saturday at Blackmoor Bar and Kitchen from 6 to 9PM. (1 Chelsea St, Charlestown, MA.)
Having free places for us to be social is why I host these events... but because Blackmoor Bar and Kitchen takes care of us so well, the best way we can thank this amazing establishment is for us to purchase drinks and food. Attending is completely free so there is no obligation or pressure.
⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️ WHAT IS STEAMPUNK?⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Steampunk is a form of science fiction. It takes the feel and fashion of the Victorian Era... Suits with top hats... Dresses with corsets... Then add imaginative inventions like mechanical arms or magic pistols.
Think... clockwork powered robot waiters... pirate ship blimps.
Don't have any Steampunk gear? No problem! Dressing up is encouraged but definitely not required. Just bring yourself!
If you ever decide to piece together a costume, it can be added to over time. We all enjoy discussing where to get accessories. Many of us make our own props. Some even sell pieces.

This month, we are having our fourth themed party...
Our Halloween, Christmas and Anniversary parties went so well that I've decided that we should have one that's simply for fun.
You are encouraged to join us with a touch of pirate to your attire. This will help us boost the mood of our festivities.
Blackmoor has a charming private room they graciously allow us to reserve.
Well thought out decorations along with our custom playlists of music and visuals will reflect the themes of steampunk and pirates theme. These will provide a more immersive. The theme of steampunk spans many genres.

We have boardgames laid out for use...
You are more than welcome to bring your own. The more players, the better... Games that are relatively simple and short are the best. Bonus points for Steampunk themed games.
We have a log book should you care to mark the occasion for future reference... You may sign it however you choose. Nicknames and personas are acceptable.
We also have what I refer to as a "Living Story" you may contribute to. Anyone may write in this book and contribute to this tale. It continues to grow every month and together we'll see where the adventure takes us.

Parking is available along the street... Finding a close spot can be tough. I recommend arriving early. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant, should you decide you'd rather pay for the convenience. In the discussions section of our event page, is a link with a map for parking.
For reference, landmarks nearby include the Zakim Bridge (I93)... TD Garden (North Station)... The USS Constitution is quite literally behind Blackmoor... The Museum of Science, Bunker Hill Community College...
If you are traveling via the MBTA, I recommend using the trip-planner on their website.
There are buses (the 92 & 93) with stops right outside our door.
Walking across the North Washington Street bridge from North Station takes me about fifteen minutes.
There is a post to lock up bicycles out front.
I'm sure you could find somewhere close to dock too if you are sailing any ships.

If you would like to contribute financially, handing your host cash donations is acceptable but absolutely not required. Because... Your host is admittedly a poor city boy that pours all their time, effort and money into this event. Decorations for parties adds up... I do not work for Blackmoor or anyone. I work for us.
Sometimes guests bring crafting scraps, accessories, odds and ends to share with the group. You're welcome to do so as well. An item that has been collecting dust in the back of your closet could become part of a new steampunk's costume.
If you have any questions, recommendations... ways to help me promote these events... or any concerns... (including typos, misspellings or grammatical errors)... don't hesitate to message the host.
