Spring Wild Food Foraging Walk - Brighton

A springtime foraging and plant ID walk with experienced wild food guide and cook Mike Cutting in Brighton's Stanmer Park.

About this Event

Join experienced wild food guide and cook Mike Cutting on a springtime walk around one of Brighton's most beloved green spaces; Stanmer Park.

On this walk we will encounter, examine, taste and smell many species of edible and medicinal plants, trees and (potentially) fungi that make this place home. We will also meet poisonous or otherwise toxic plants to be avoided or handled with caution, which are just as important to be aware of as their delicious or otherwise useful relatives.

Foraging is a fantastic way to 'stack' together positive, nourishing and healthy habits. These include exercise, immersion in nature, mindfulness and of course the gathering of highly nutritious ingredients and medicines for home use and experimentation. On this 2 plus hour walk we examine the basics of how and where to gather wild plants, how to begin identifying them, and how to use them at home.

Following the ID walk you will have the chance to try a variety of tasters prepared using wild foods combined with common ingredients, showcasing how easy it can be to begin introducing wild and foraged foods into your diet.

Some of the route in this area can be over uneven ground and contain up hill sections.
