Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra present a Spring Swing Revue, featuring three local crowd favourites!Headlining will be Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, fresh from touring their latest album, after over a decade of trampling over genre boundaries, chucking Rockabilly, Blues, Country, Swing, Soul and more into their musical gumbo. Well-known for their energetic live shows, and dry humour, they’ve toured with some of the big-name Americana outfits such as Pokey LaFarge, The Dead South, and Sierra Ferrell. They have released music on Sleazy Records (Spain) and Migraine Records (Germany), appeared multiple times on Radio 4’s Loose Ends, and had their music played by everyone from Marc Riley to Huey Morgan.
Also playing are 9-piece swing orchestra, House of the Black Gardenia. Born of the desire to get their city’s dancefloors swinging to the lesser-known roots music of the 1920s and ’30s, they bring together the new generation of Newcastle’s jazz and swing scene for a raucous revival of old-fashioned good times. Expect stride piano, ragtime banjo, Sousa bumps, blistering New Orleans-style horns and infectious swing rhythms more potent than a bathtub full of gin.
As if this was not enough to drag you out of the house and onto the dancefloor, we also have The King Bees, Newcastle's finest Chicago Blues and mid-century R&B combo. These guys are suit-wearing, harmonica-blowing, guitar pickin', daddies of cool!
This is the hottest ticket in town, do not dilly-dally!
