Blooming Ludus presents our very first improv jam!
Come join us at DANSpace for the Spring Spore Jam! This is an open-level practice for folks who have improv experience or are interested in exploring improv techniques for the first time.
The first hour is a workshop: We will be moving in response to prompts and guidance from Haeweon’s PhD research exploring the impact of fungi–human relationships on our bodily perception and connections to the planet. What can we learn from the movement of spores and mycelium? What does it mean to become a decomposer in a performing body?
*Note: This session will be documented by sketches and writing for research purposes. No photos or videos will be taken without everyone's consent. The consent form and the research information sheet will be provided if needed. Please contact Haeweon ([email protected]) if you have any questions about her research.
The second hour is an open jam: For performers, movers, dancers, contact improv practitioners, musicians, singers, and visual artists – Bring your instruments, your pots and pans, and your coloured pencils! Let’s create together! It's a free jam open for any movements and sounds.
*If you want to have paint of any kind in the room, please give us a heads up, we’ll need to bring the plastic and masking tape! Water soluble only!
