Come join us for an unforgettable afternoon filled with love, laughter, and song at the Lassiter Concert Hall! This in-person event will take place on Sunday April 28 2024 at 3:00 PM. If you are not familiar with this venue, you should know that it was designed to present musical concerts and is said to have acoustics that are extraordinary. The hall itself is worth the admission price for this concert.

The Spring Showcase will be our first under the Direction of Michaela Slamka-Johnston. Michaela come to the Big Chicken Chorus as an accomplished music teacher, director, arranger, and vocal performer. She holds degrees in Music Education and Music Theory from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Michaela is a 4th generation barbershopper and 3rd generation International Barbershop Quartet Champion, following her Grandfather Jack Slamka (Bass of Power Play, 2003 International Champion) and father Michael Slamka ( Lead of Power Play and Lead of Crossroads, 2009 International Champions. Michaela was Tenor with Class Ring 2014 Rising Star Champions and 2019 Sweet Adeline International Champions and is current Baritone with Dynasty 2024 2nd Place International Silver Medalist Quartet. She and her husband, Nathan Johnston, sing in Double Date 2014 and 2016 BinG! World Mixed Quartet Champions. Michaela real role in life is being the mother

Our performance will include traditional music arranged in 4-part close harmony and performed by the Big Chicken Chorus, local Barbershop quartets - Classic Cuts and Two and Through, and our featured guest performers, 2024 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions Lady A Cappella. Lady A Cappella - Hailing from the vibrant lands of Ohio and Tennessee, the fabulous foursome of sassy songstresses are not just besties, they're a whirlwind of harmonies and infectious laughter. From jazzy jingles to soulful serenades, Lady A Cappella's eclectic tunes are a testament to their musical prowess. But it's not all just notes and melodies; the bond of sisterhood they share, both among themselves and with the radiant community of Sweet Adelines, is pure magic. Stacey St. John, Tenor, is a 3rd generation barbershopper who grew up listening to 4-part harmony and longing for the time when she'd be old enough to have a quartet of her own. She was the tenor of the 2009 International Champion Quartet, Moxie Ladies. Deidra Ronfeldt, Lead, is originally from Leslie, MI and moved to Nashville in 2003 to fulfill her passion of music. In 2016, Deidra started making the commute to Ohio to sing with what is now known as Lady A Cappella! She cherishes the day she won her first international quartet championship. Kerry Denino, Baritone, is a 40-year member of Sweet Adelines and a second generation barbershopper. Kerry was crowned with the 2006 International Quartet Champions, Spotlight. Gretchen Holloway, Bass, is a third-generation barbershopper who spent her formative years immersed in the harmonies of her family's singing tradition. Gretchen has earned top 10 medals not only with Lady A Cappella but also with Success Express and Crush Quartets and notably, her win with Moxie Ladies in 2009 alongside Stacey.
