Looking for an unforgettable school holiday experience? Join us for 3 days of nature exploration, play, and creativity! Our nature-based programme offers children a chance to connect with the outdoors, engage in hands-on activities, and express their creativity through art. Our special 3-day adventure will be set in the beautiful Mātekai Park.
Perfectly nestled in the heart of the coastal village of Ōakura, Matekai Park offers the ideal setting for children to reconnect with nature and engage in imaginative play and exploration.
Inspired by the legacy of Sophia Preschool, where children once spent time every week in the serenity of Matekai Park, developing a deep appreciation for the natural world. Let’s delve into our connections with nature, and become Nature Explorers once again!
What’s in Store:
🌿 Nature Exploration – Guided discovery walks where kids will observe, listen, and learn about the native birds, trees, and wildlife that call Matekai Park home.
🏕️ Creative Construction – Children will build huts and shelters using sticks and natural materials they find in the bush, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
📝 Nature Journals – Children will create nature journals to document their observations, sketch wildlife, and reflect on their experiences throughout the programme.
Give your child the gift of 3 days immersed in nature—a perfect balance of learning, play, and creativity. This immersive nature program is perfect for young adventurers.
We will start each day at Villa Sophia and make the short walk to MĀTEKAI PARK NATURE RESERVE each morning (weather permitting). In the case of wet weather, our nature explorers will spend their time in the Villa and garden.
