About this Event
Join us in our private woodlands at Rushcliffe Country Park for a nourishing afternoon connecting to nature to celebrate the spring equinox.
Together, we will practise connecting to ourselves, to each other and to nature, through forest bathing and nature connection activities.
Why do we celebrate the spring equinox?
The spring equinox (21st March) is an important time in the year, as it marks the moment that day and night are of equal length, and has been celebrated across the Northern Hemisphere - across cultures and traditions - for millenia. From this moment forward, until the autumn equinox, the days will become longer than the nights, as we welcome in increased daylight and warmer temperatures. It also marks the beginning of spring, and we will see that in the woodlands by the abundance of wildlife returning, from the blossoming leaves and flowers, to the birds and other creatures welcoming in their new babies. All round us, it is a time for new life and rejuvenation, and for us humans too; as we come out our own period of winter, we can join together to reflect on these themes and to celebrate this wonderful transitional period in nature.
What is Forest Bathing?
Forest Bathing, or ‘shinrin yoku’ in Japanese, is the wonderfully restorative, mindfulness-based practice of immersing oneself in the forest, woodland or any green space. Whether you practise alone, or guided by a trained facilitator as this session will be, you will gently use your senses to connect to the natural world around you. Many studies have shown forest bathing to have a profoundly positive impact on our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. When practised in a group, it can also provide a lovely, easeful way to not only connect to nature and to ourselves, but to the other people around us.
The event will be guided by a qualified Forest Therapy Practitioner. Additional information will be sent out to all attendees 3 days before the event by email - if you have not received it by then, please check your spam then message me at [email protected].
