SAVE THE DATESUNDAY, APRIL 28
4:00PM
First Congregational Church will present its annual spring concert entitled “Songs of Hope” on April 28, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. FCC’s dynamic Jubilate Adult Handbell Choir will open the concert. Then, FCC’s Vestry Adult Choir, soloists, and orchestra with special guests Encore Music Academy’s (EMA’s) Voices in Harmony Adult Community Choir will perform Mozart’s Requiem on the second half.
FCC’s Jubilate Adult Handbell Choir has been invited by competitive audition to perform at the Handbell Musicians of America National Seminar in Hartford, Connecticut this July. This is a great honor and not one usually earned by a volunteer church handbell choir. Their selections for this concert include “All Glorious Above” arranged by Fred Gramann, and “Remembrance” by Cathy Moklebust. The choir will also perform three pieces by the prolific bell music composer, Jason Krug: “The Only Constant,” “Shock Wave,” and “Novus.”
The second half of the program will feature the FCC Vestry Choir and Encore Music Academy’s Voices in Harmony performing W.A. Mozart’s Requiem. The orchestra will be made up of FCC instrumentalists, area professionals, and Encore faculty and student musicians. Barb Thorsen will accompany on the organ. Soloists for the Requiem are: soprano, Toni Gambini, mezzo soprano, Allison Atteberry, tenor, Christopher Jackson and bass-baritone, Richard Ziebarth. Ann Tucker, FCC’s Director of Music will direct.
For more information, call the church office at 815-459-6010 or visit fcc-cl.org. The public is invited to attend this free program which will also be streamed live on the church’s website; a free-will offering will be received. Nursery care during the performance is available. Doors will open at 3:30pm for the 4pm concert. Come early to get a seat! First Congregational Church is accessible and open to all.
