We're back! Join Kate Thomas of Fireweed Acupuncture and Seeta Lee of Professional Contrarian for a fun afternoon of trading your fiction books for new ones at this FREE Spring Book Trade on Sunday, March 16, from 1-3 pm!
Bring any gently used fiction books, cookbooks, and books on gardening and exchange them with other book lovers. It's a great way to refresh your book collection for free! Whether you're into general fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, or romance - bring your books to trade with others. This Spring, we're also welcoming cookbooks (no diet cookbooks!) and gardening books. You'll get a ticket for each book you bring, and each new-to-you book is worth one ticket!
Book Trade Details:
- All books should be in good condition. Avoid bringing damaged books, books with a lot of writing, very old books, etc.
- We are only accepting adult fiction books (no YA), cookbooks (no dieting cookbooks, please!), and indoor and outdoor gardening books for this trade.
- We recommend bringing 10 or fewer books! We prefer quality over quantity - try to bring books you'd be excited to see at the trade, too.
- Bring a friend! The number of available books depends on how many others bring! The more people who attend, the better our chances for lots of books to trade 😊 Send them this page so they can grab their own ticket, too.
You're welcome to drop in to trade your books, hang out and chat, read one of your new books, and/or participate in some low-key (introvert-friendly!) bookish activities between 1-3 pm. We'll have some dairy-free chai to sip while you browse!

Location & Accessibility Notes
We'll be at Fireweed Acupuncture - 3520 Beaver Ave, Suite C, Des Moines. Suite C is in the top floor of the brown building on the west side of Beaver Ave under the Guys & Dolls sign. You can park in either parking lot, but the east lot (closer to Beaver Ave) has ramp access to the space.
There is space to sit and chat with folks during the trade. The space has a gender-neutral bathroom available. The door does not have an automatic open feature, but we will be on hand to assist.
Masking is welcome but not required. If someone is experiencing respiratory symptoms (coughing, etc.), they will be asked to wear a mask. There will be HEPA filters running. Please reconsider attending if you are feeling unwell - you are welcome to send someone in your place to trade your books!
