The Altos: overview
Guests arrive at Tony Altos funeral only to find that he is still alive and trying to determine who put the hit out on him. Audience members become part of the family in an interactive comedy spoof of mobster shows and movies, most notably The Sopranos. Roles in this show require the ability to interact with audience members and improvisation. Some roles are identified singing roles, others may be added as singing roles as appropriate.
Character Descriptions
Tony Alto: A local mob boss who runs a strip club as a cover. SINGING/RAPPING ROLE
Toffee Alto: Tony's wife who has the hots for her priest. SINGING ROLE
Chris Alto: Tony's incompetent nephew who wants to be a made man and Hollywood star.
Uncle Senior: Under indictment and hates Tony. He wants to run things. Is under heavy law monitoring.
Nona Alto: Tony's mother who hates him for trying to send her to a nursing home.
Dr. Malaise: Tony's psychiatrist. SINGING ROLE
Father Flip: A reformed crime runner who is now a priest. He is equally interested in Tony's wife. POSSIBLE SINGING ROLE
Delivery Man/Hitman: Small role or combined role for Father Flip Actor.

Audition Preparation and Requirements
*A prepared comedic reading of no more than 2 minutes
*Audition will consist of cold script reads
*Vocal audition for singing roles: 90 seconds in length to pre-recorded backing track (auditioner is expected to bring a device to play this) that represents character and vocal range. Only one singing audition will be required if auditioning for both shows.
*Due to the mature content of the show, auditioners must be ages 18 and up


My Curiosity: overview
My Curiosity is a musical based on the life of Thomas Edison written and composed by local writer, John Pesaniello. As is common with new shows, performances of this show will be in the form of a staged reading. Actors will be familiar with the story but will be reading directly from the script via stationary stands and microphones. The music will be practiced by the singers involved. Two performances of this show will take place to gain public feedback and debut the work.

Character Descriptions
Male actors should be able to sing in the tenor range (C3 to G4) and female actors should sing in the alto range (E3 to E5). Narrator and child actors do not sing.
Thomas Edison (male 25-35 tenor) brilliant young inventor quickly becoming famous for his life-changing inventions; loves his work; sharply focused; tireless; often inattentive to mundane matters; difficulty relating to children; somewhat forgetful
Mary Edison/Grown-up Daughter (female 20-25 alto) family-focused, loving wife, devoted mother, cheerful and bright on the surface but struggles with depression and other health problems;
disappointed with her husband’s lack of engagement in family matters
Laboratory Assistants:
Rose (female 20-25 alto) flirtatious, outgoing, funny, and smart
Caroline (female 20-25 alto) intelligent, somewhat sarcastic, reserved
Lizzie (female 20-25 alto) quiet, sweet and kind; the newest member of the laboratory team; very fond of Edison’s daughter, Marion; spiritually-inclined
Perry (male 20-25 tenor) lively, funny and fun-loving; likes to joke and tease - especially Mr. Edison
Johnny (male 20-25 tenor) serious, formal, precise, always with a pencil wedged behind his ear and a clipboard nearby, meticulous; lab historian and record keeper
Mina/French Scientist #2 (female 20-25) charming, well-educated daughter of wealthy Boston businessman/inventor
Delivery Worker/Reporter/Doctor Longstreet/French Scientist #1 (male 20-40 tenor)
Nursemaid/French Scientist #3 (female 20-50 alto)
